DISPATCH ONE: TEL AVIV UNDER ATTACK
The Story: The Houthis—an Iranian proxy army based in Yemen—sent a number of exploding drones to Israel overnight on Thursday, most of which were intercepted by the US, and one of which struck an apartment building in central Tel Aviv, killing one and wounding others.
The Takeaway: Israelis have come to have a deep faith in two things—one, that a siren will precede an aerial attack; two—that aerial attacks will be intercepted by the Iron Dome. In this case, there was no siren and the attack was not intercepted. Once again, we are learning the hard lesson that we are far more vulnerable than we once believed.
DISPATCH TWO: IRAN WANTS TRUMP DEAD
The Story: Shortly after Trump was nearly felled by an assassin’s bullet at a rally in Pennsylvania, news broke of another plot to kill the former (and possibly future) president, this one spearheaded by Iran. There is no indication that Thomas Matthew Crooks, the suspected Pennsylvania shooter, was in any way connected to this separate Iranian plot.
The Takeaway: The Iranian regime apparently loves Biden’s Middle East policy.
DISPATCH THREE: ICJ WEIGHS IN ON WEST BANK OCCUPATION
