The Good Jews and the Bad Jews
Dispatches on culture, politics, and religion from Matthew Schultz, a rabbinical student and writer living in Tel Aviv.
The open hostility towards Jews in America right now is something I’ve never seen before—not towards Jews and not towards anyone else. Rhetoric that one hardly expects to hear from KKK leaders is now pouring out of the mouths of America’s young progressive elites.
One student, the leader of the protest movement at Columbia, called for all Zionists to be murdered.
In one infamous image, a girl called on Hamas to murder her Jewish classmates.
Even elected representatives are joining in on this parade of hatred. I’m talking about Representative Ilhan Omar. When visiting the anti-Zionist protest encampment at Columbia, Congresswoman Omar was asked whether or not she is concerned by the movement’s tendency to venture into antisemitic territory of the most vile kind.
Omar’s response was chilling. “We should not have to tolerate antisemitism or bigotry for all Jewish students, whether they’re pro-genocide or anti-genocide.”
