The Weekly Dispatch
Big Stories. Made Simple.
DISPATCH ONE: DOHA CEASEFIRE SUMMIT
The Story: Today’s the day. My birthday. And also, the day of the much-anticipated Doha Summit. Will Hamas participate? Will a deal be signed? Will the hostages come home? All of that remains to be seen as of this writing.
The Takeaway: It’s getting harder to believe that we’ll see the kind of progress we want, but there are reasons for hope. Nonetheless, the entire ceasefire framework is a farce. If the world community had any principles, this war would end in a Hamas surrender, not a ceasefire.
DISPATCH TWO: IDF USES HUMAN SHIELDS
The Story: Haaretz has published a disturbing report about IDF soldiers using Palestinian civilians to test for booby traps in Hamas tunnels.
