The Weekly Dispatch
Big Stories. Made Simple.
DISPATCH ONE: PREPARING FOR WAR
The Story: Israel is preparing for a significant strike by Iran, Hezbollah, or both. Hospitals are readying generators and soliciting blood donations. Citizens are stocking their pantries with canned goods and emergency supplies. We are told the US is working behind the scenes to deescalate, but nothing is guaranteed.
The Takeaway: For months, Israelis have been warned of an attack unlike anything they have experienced before. That said, preparation and coordination with allies can change the decree. In April, we saw how preparation and coordination with allies protected against an unprecedented Iranian attack. Hopefully the current measures will be as effective.
DISPATCH TWO: CEASEFIRE SOON
The Story: Israel has reported that it will be sending its team to “finalize details” on a ceasefire/hostage deal on August 15th, a week from today. The US says that this is premature, but that a deal is indeed close at hand.
